Seek
Seek and you will find, but what is it I seek? I look for beauty with my eyes, I listen for harmony with my ears, and feel for pleasure with my limbs. When I ask, I expect an answer; when I speak, I expect a listener; but how can I not know what I seek? It’s there – I see it; it’s near – I hear it; and when all is stripped away, it’s within – I know it. I walk to a place far away, and it is there; I cease from all activity, and it is there; and on a cloudy day, I see nothing. Blindness must be the seeker’s curse, or deafness and even dismemberment; if he is to see, if he is to hear or touch, if he is to find. But illusions can be found – many times over; and who will know? Yet if the knower will seek to know, then his answer will be found. He sees, he hears, he feels; but does he know? Treasure found is treasure found; and he will know when he knows. But is ‘knowing’ what I seek? Or do I seek to know something or someone?
